Fishing Locations
Trail End Camp is located in the north end of the Whiteshell Provincial Park on the upper reaches of the Winnipeg River. Accessible by car on hard-topped road, our remote drive-in camp is only 2 hours from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Winnipeg River, which winds its way northwest from Lake of the Woods to Lake Winnipeg, is a haven for walleyes, northern pike and small mouth bass. The backwoods area offers exceptional opportunities for hunting black bear and deer. Since the 1940's the Manitoba government has preserved the stretch of the Winnipeg River from Pointe du Bois to the Ontario border, and the area today retains its wilderness flavor.
Types of Fish
Cast for big pike in the depths of the back bays, or find them hiding along the islands and channels. Topwater and bait rigs are great in early season. Anglers switch to spinner and spoons in June. Summer months see a variety of lures being tossed out for hungry pike, from large silver spoons to huge crank baits.

Winnipeg River Walleye are spread out between creeks mouths and fast current locations in the early spring. The fish then migrate to reefs and points in that spring. Once the weed beds are up in mid-summer the fish can also be found chasing perch and other bait fish. Spinner and jigs with dead minnows as bait seem to work best for walleyes.

Smallmouth bass
start hitting on the shorelines and back bays, and then move deeper and by fall they're on points in the main river channel. Topwaters are great early in the year, then switch to diving crankbaits in summer and to jigs and artificial baits or crawlers in the fall.

Our experienced on-site guides can steer you in the right direction with our custom-made Trail End Camp maps of the river. Our general store carries bait and tackle and the guides can assist you in what works best for your type of fishing.

About Us
"Nestled on a small bay at the start of the Winnipeg River at Pointe du Bois, just 2 hours from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Trail End Camp is a favorite destination of anglers in the know." Brad Dokken, Grand Forks Herald Writer

Despite the name, the Winnipeg River is more like a lake. 30 miles of river dotted with islands, bays and inlets offer plenty of fishing opportunities for northern pike, walleyes, smallmouth bass and perch.

It's a rare sense of privacy you will experience at a drive to fishing resort. Trail End Camp's location offers a powerful experience of wilderness that is difficult to encounter at most drive to fishing lodges.

"There is no shortage of places to go on this beautiful untouched body of water. The Winnipeg River won't disappoint the most avid of anglers!" Vance Hrechkosy, Winnipeg River guide since 1986.

Trail End Camp boats are all 16' aluminum Lunds, equipped with swivel padded seats for your comfort. These boats are quality "lodge boats" at most Canadian camps.

All Trail End Camp boats are powered by the quiet operating, reliable and environmentally friendly 15 or 25 horse Honda four-stroke outboard motors.
