Types of Fish

Guests at Tuckamore Lodge have the opportunity to put their angling skills to the test while they cast a line for Atlantic salmon, the king of sportsfish. With about ten to twelve thousand young Atlantic salmon returning to our rivers every year, Tuckamore Lodge will deliver many catches each day. With the salmon fishing season running from the late days of June to the early days of September, there is plenty of time for Tuckamore’s guests to score their big catch of the summer. Our Atlantic salmon weigh on average 6-10 pounds but there has been more and more trophy salmon caught each year. Along with Atlantic salmon, guests at Tuckamore Lodge have the opportunity to go fishing for Brook Trout and Arctic Char. Take your whole family down to our salmon rivers and have a shot at catching the mighty Atlantic salmon

Accommodations
Tuckamore Lodge offers the luxury of Scandinavian-style accommodations on Southwest Pond in the midst of northern Newfoundland’s spectacular wilderness just outside the fishing village of Main Brook. We have two main lodges at the site. One is cedar and the other is a pine A-frame. Each is decorated with artwork from local artisans and each lodge offers a spectacular view of the lake.

Meals are served in communal dining rooms at each lodge and include such Newfoundland favorites as Atlantic Salmon and Bakeapples. We have a smoke-free environment and all of our rooms are designed for double occupancy and contain private baths. We have a sauna, hot tub, billiard room, library, living room with cable television and fitness equipment. The lodge also has a honeymoon suite for guests who want to make their visit even more special.

In addition to our two main lodges we also have two remote lodges for our guests. One is located on White’s Arm Pond and offers the utmost in tranquility and peace. The other is a basic canvas camp in a setting of extreme beauty on the remote Grey Islands, 14 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Thanks so much for being such a wonderful host. We all had a terrific time and we''re still talking about the salmon and corn chowder that we had at supper time. My favourite still is the chocolate maccaroon pie. Delicious. If you share recipes, do let me know! Tuckamore is such a lovely place. I'm sorry that we didn't have more time to spend there. Our trip felt a bit rushed but it did convince all of us that we have to go back soon! Thanks again for your gracious hospitality. You're a splendid host!
Best regards,
Michele "
