| The Margaree is one of the most beautiful North American rivers and it was appointed as a Heritage River. Since the last century fly fishers have come from all over the world to this area to catch their salmon. | |
Types of Fish |

| The Margaree holds Atlantic Salmon, Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout. The Margaree splits into two parts at our property; hence the name Margaree Forks. The part coming from the mountain is only to be fished by fly starting June 1st. In the Southwest Margaree one can also go with worm or spoon. The normal catch in the Margaree river ranges from 6 to 20 pounds with an average catch being 10 pounds. The record catch in the Margaree is 52 lbs! The salmon season on the Margaree begins June 1 and continues until October 31. Enjoy the fishing! |

Established in 1952, the Margaree Lodge is one of the oldest establishments in the Margaree area, offering fine food and lodging to our guests. To explore Cape Breton, we are ideally located at the junction of the Ceilidh Trail and Cabot Trail. | Our Lodge consists of a total of 32 double-rooms and 2 large suites, which can be found in four different ground level units. On site we have a restaurant, lounge, outdoor pool, antique shop and a fitness center. We also offer a laundry room for our guests with coin operated washer and dryer. Standard room: Equipped with either two double beds or one queen size bed and a private 4-piece bathroom, Satellite TV and FM/AM radio, telephone (free local calls), in-room coffee/tea. Most of the rooms have air-conditioning. 20 non-smoking and 4 smoking rooms. Deluxe room: Equipped with either two double beds or one king size bed and a private 4-piece bathroom, nice juniper floor, Satellite TV and FM/AM radio, hair dryer, telephone (free local calls), in-room coffee/tea, air-conditioning. One of the deluxe rooms with two double beds offers a dining room and kitchenette. Non-smoking only. Suites: The building with the most beautiful view of our property! The genereous suite # 1 with over 750 square feet has 2 bed rooms (king/double /single - beauty rest mattresses), 2 bathrooms (1 with whirlpool), a large living/ dining room (with queen sofa bed), kitchenette, large veranda overlooking the Margaree, 2 Sat TV’s, VCR, DVD, hairdryer, telephone (free local calls), antique wooden floor throughout, air-conditioning in the living room. | Just returned from a fabulous stay at Margaree Lodge. Our accommadations were very nice and very clean. The lodge offered many choices for dinners, one of which was to prepare the salmon we caught into a gourmet meal. The fly fishing day was guided by Albert Jenkins and having a guide proved very helpful. Not just for finding the fish, but for learning the "pool" rules. The stay was breathtaking!
