Cheticamp Lake

Maralyn's brothers, Blayne & Richie, and their Brother-In-Law, Bernie and his Grandson, Dillon are going fishing because, well, that's what they do. Maralyn seized upon the opportunity and invited the girls, Heather, Gloria and Denise for a "girls weekend" at the cottage and told me I, the non-fisherman, was going fishing.

No sense "Googling" Cheticamp Lake because even Google can't find it!
It's 30KM north of Wreck Cove in the power generation station's
watershed, on top of the Highlands, in fact it's been excluded from
the Park to allow the Wreck Cove project.

So, an hour over neglected construction roads (can you say TWO flat
tires?) from the last power lines, we take a 20 minute trip in a 10' boat to
make certain we're so far from civilization there would be no sense in
interrupting fishing in an attempt to attend to any medical emergency
four 57-60 year olds might experience. The landscape could be best
described as tundra, with nary a shade tree in sight. I suggested that
another year they might wish to consider a location with the word "Lodge" in it's name!

We found lots of trout in a stream and it was much like I imagine a
"U-Fish" operation might be. Fortunately, whatever I had on my line attracted
them, and I had as much fun as anyone. We must've had 25-30 each!
Three muskrats watched from a distance, and an eagle was hopeful our
catch and release policy would create some injured easy prey.

I enjoyed the time with my brothers-in-law and grand nephew.
All-in-all, it was a fishing trip!

Cheers,
Richard
