Sportfishing in Nova Scotia is a very popular activity with some of the best being found in the northern section of the province. The lakes and brooks in eastern Nova Scotia are plentiful with speckled or brook trout, if salmon fishing is not your style. There is also excellent sea-run brown trout and rainbow trout fishing as well.

Of course, the fishing is only available during the open season and salmon fishing is not limited to just catch-and-release. The use of barbed hooks is allowed and you make take eight salmon per year under 24.8 inches in length.

Excellent fishing can be enjoyed right until the end of October when the season closes until spring.

Mackerel, Cod, Hake, Pollack, Catfish, Blue - Mako - and Porbeagel Shark are a few of the species if deep sea fishing is your preference. Sadly Tuna fishing is only permitted commercially.
